A view of the Prussian line of battle. Torpedo boat SMS Magni in the foreground folled by one of the landing barges and then the SMS Erda

HMS Nuorthumberland and HMS Hot Trod steaming out of the river mouth. They were to inflict the first serious casualties, dropping a shell into the troop compartment of a landing barge, killing all inside.
SMS Modi prepares to launch torpedos at one of the British patrol boats.

The RMLI forms one flank of the land defenses.

SMS Erda and one of the landing barges.

The Sgt Harper class guntractors head for the beach, supported by men of the Royal East Kent Regiment. The guns of the Harper's wreaked havoc on the decks of the Prussian boats.

Fire breaks out on the deck of the Modi after a hit from one of the British gunboats. The crew was eventually able to extinguish the fire.

HMS Melusine surfaces and fires a pair of torpedoes at SMS Erda. Erda manages to maneuver away from the torpedoes and gives the Melusine a visious pounding from both her guns sending the newly christened submersible down to the depths.

Northumberland and Hot Trod press on.

Hot Trod rams the Modi and boards. The action clears both decks leaving only a few of Hot Trod's crew left to try and back her off the crippled Modi

The gun tractors operated charmingly despite being under constant fire from the Prussian monitor.

SMS Magni spent several turns launching torpedoes at the Hot Trod in a final act of defiance before withdrawing with the Erda and the one remaining Troop carrier that survived.
